So good looking it hurts (SUNO V4 Engine)
During dinner a few weeks back, I got a fragment of a lyric…
“It hurts. You know it hurts. It hurts… being so good looking.”
Suno came out with their V4 engine this week, so I thought I’d see what I could do expanding on the lyrics. The V4 engine was a bit of a pain in the ass, because it would draw out the instrumentals so long that they’d cut off at the max limit point. They didn’t need to be that long and in some cases, you just lost maybe the last bar or two. I liked this version a lot, but still had to manually edit in a fade at the end to prevent it from ending abruptly.
Suno is an interesting beast, because you don’t just hand it lyrics and get a perfect song. It takes experimentation to get it to sing the lyrics the way I want, then to get the right prompt for the music. I’ve found some ways to notate the lyrics to get it better, but it’s still something I have to dive into more.
I’m still trying to learn to draw better and need to start sharing some results. Plus I’m diving deeper on self-hosting AI large language models (LLMs) to help me with my novels, help me take rough sketches to more complete drawings and rig them for animation, help me make music faster, etc.
The goal is that a year after I retired (May 15, 2025), I have to start building my audience. That’s scary. I haven’t put myself out there like that since the 90s, the competition is WAY fiercer now, and I’m no longer in my 20s with a 20something’s energy levels. But the deal I made with myself is that I have just under two years from now to reach a certain level of followers and engagement. If I don’t reach that, I start polishing my resume.
Wish me luck!
