“Save the Trees near Mark’s House” – Song

Inspired by “Burn the Earth”, I remembered that I wrote a “social awareness” song back in college. Now this is actually satirical. The novel is about a guy who just wants to save a small grove of trees, but his campaign goes viral, spins out of control, and a bunch of celebrities record a “We Are the World” kind of song called “Save the Trees near Mark’s House.” I had a tune for this and I’ve periodically sung it to myself since writing it in 1993, but this is the first time the music in my head has been recorded.

I sang the first verse and chorus into my mic and then handed it off to Suno with the full lyrics to “cover” it. I’d say about 80% of the music is my original composition and the rest is Suno’s arrangement and filler. This song has its tongue firmly planted in its cheek and the cheesy 80s feel is very intentional.
